I read about the SJA Therapy Dog Program and then contacted Clarke. He encouraged me to become a volunteer with the Program even though I lived in Lunenburg for a six month period. Because of Clarke I am now a volunteer at HVH and truly enjoy it. I've only known Clarke for several months but in that short time I found him to be such an incredible human being. Always a smile, a good word. He touched my life with sunlight as I'm positive he did with all others he came in contact with. He made such a tremendous contribution to this life. His memory will live on forever. We are all blessed to have had him in our lives. He will be missed by all!

He always had a warm smile and a cheerful greeting when we met him at the shows. He was a true devotee of Doberman Pinschers and was always eager to talk Dobes or learn even more about the breed. Clarke was an amazing grandfather to both me and my sister and a terrific father to my dad. He touched our hearts in so many ways through his many acts of kindness and his ever lasting goal of helping others. He is truly an inspiration to all and will always be remembered as such. Through his loving work he did with the hospital he will always be known as a truly kind and thoughtful person who would always put others before himself. He leaves behind many, along with my loving granny Brenda, my beautiful aunt Pamela and my amazing dad Patrick who is certainly a test of the great man my grandfather was. There are just too many wonderful things to say about Clarke that would have made him blush. We swapped Doberman stories like old timers spoke about the golden days. When I took in an old Dobie rescue, he was one of the few who could understand how much I got back from giving this old girl a final home where she could be loved and treasured - even only for a few months that she had left in her life of turmoil. Clarke kept the Doberman in its place of honour - where it should be - a respectable working dog who since its creation has been a noble friend to those who take the time to give it respect for its unique character and dedication to its owner. Thanks Clarke... You left us doing what you loved the best with your great girl Rena. That in itself, makes me smile beyond the tears shed. Valerie

A Life Well Lived. Clarke was the Best of the Best. To the good times here in Ottawa. To having Clarke & Brenda(with their motor home)visit with us at Lorwell Lake in Brudenell Ontario. To our many spagetti dinners at our homes here in Ottawa. To celebrating Grey Cup 1967 on Bank Street in Ottawa. Some night when you look up in the night sky and if you see what appears to be flashes of light, it just might be Clarke taking pictures in Heaven. Farewell Clarke. I first met Clarke in the halls of South Shore Reginal some years ago. It was my first introduction to the Therapy program. I was very interested as when I was young we had a kennel. I kept running into him here and there and then my Dad started attending the ADP where Clarke would show up every Monday with one of his dogs. My how the club members enjoyed his visits. The program is wonderful and Clarke was such an asset to it. I know everyone who knew him will miss him very much. Our hearts go out to the family.

My greyhound Jenny and I met Clarke in May, 2012 when we were part of a group being tested as possible Therapy Dog teams. Since then, I've enjoyed Clarke's enthusiasm and generosity of spirit. He guided us through our early sessions at the VON White House and FMH. He was always available by phone or email. In fact, he sent an email to his Therapy Dog Team brief hours before his passing - encouraging us to visit Brian on the 3rd floor. Clarke was definitely in the saddle right up to the end. I'm grateful to have met him and regret our friendship was so suddenly cut short. Sincere condolences to Clarke's family (both two-and-four-legged), friends and colleagues.

I can't really remember when I first met Clarke at a Dog Show or at a St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog event. Either way, it doesn't mater since they will never be the same again & both are lessened by his passing. He always had a smile for everyone, or a story to share. He loved his photography, would always talk with me about his pictures or camera. He took some beautiful photos. Clarke touched so many people in so many positive ways, & really isn't that all that any of us can hope for out of life. My thoughts are with Brenda & family at this time. A kind and gentle man has left us all too soon. Clarke was a true friend, always having a kind word and never saying an unkind one.
